This make from Apple inc. is an improvement on the iPod made by it. It has the features of multi touch graphical user interface that is not found in the previous version. The first generation device was improved upon in a span of only one year and the features like external volume control, a contoured back, a built in speaker Nike and Bluetooth support along with the ability to connect a microphone. After a year lapsed and technology developed further. This called for further addition to the second generation device. The third generation went into production and it comes with a faster hardware but with the similar microprocessors graphic engines, etc. this has also features like light sensor device, bundled earphones etc. but the advantage of features of the camera and GPS service added to the iPhone version is not found in this.

The fourth generation iPod touch too is out with added attributes and it is a high ended device released for the benefit of the tech savvy. It has some features unheard of in common parlance like the retina display cameras two in number. One can be used for Facetime and the other for HD video recording and taking photos. The processing has become faster and a microphone for voice memo and communication is added. A three- axis gyroscopic sensor added to it helps find the direction it has moved in space as well how far and fast it has moved too. The game Center is added to it and we can use the FaceTime though WiFi on it.

These are the features found in each if the devices so checking them thoroughly for their presence can enable you to identify the generation to which your iPod touch belongs to.
